Description
Nothing signals the return of 80s pop synth more than the return of A-Ha onto the scene with a brand new album, Foot of the Mountain. It has been 4 long years since this Norwegian wonder group released an album and it has been highly anticipated since. The wait is over and June 19, 2009, their ninth studio album was released. The pre-released title track doesn't let it on, but Foot of the Mountain is more than a return of the band, it is a return to their roots. The nostalgia of the 80s seeps right through to the bone and somehow seems, at the same time, from an era yet to be. The vocals of Morten Harket are recognized instantly and fans will be entranced by the familiar voice on new tunes - truly one of the great features of this album. From the very first track, Magne Furuholmen defines the sound with his keyboards and the listener knows they are in for a great ride. The genius of guitarist and principal songwriter Paul Waaktaar-Savoy really shines through and it is apparent the electronic-bluesy sounds of the track "Riding the Crest" are his favorite.Although some of the songs are dark, for the most part the album is upbeat with a driving tempo that some say is their best.
