Description
Paolo Nutini’s future was initially to take over the family’s fish and chip shop, but it was his musical talent that reigned supreme. With his folksy groove to his jazz vocals, the Scottish lad moved to London before he was 18, and after regular performances at a pub in Balham, started getting radio play.
Releasing his first album These Streets in 2006, his new blend of folk and pop granted him and his band The Vipers appearances on Later with Jools Holland, playing in New York’s Carnegie Hall and Glastonbury Festival. His new album ‘Sunny Side Up’ has been one of the best selling UK albums of 2009, and has been number one since the start of 2010.
It’s less polish with a more ‘Unplugged’ sound the songs of swinging energy and country with a twist of soul. The tracks include appearances by trombonist Rico Rodriguez and American DJ ?uestlove spreads out the tracks with outside inspiration.

At first listen it was easy to dismiss this second album as experimental but the more you listen the more infectious it gets. The moment Pencil Full of Lead starts you can't help but want to get up and dance.

It's quite a change from 'these streets' which is amazing! But not in a bad way. The tracks really are happy sunny songs. I think this album is great after a bad or tough day to totally chill out to and just let it all go!

Comments about WEA/ATLANTIC PAOLO NUTINI - Sunny Side Up:
I'm probably biased about Paulo as he's a Scot and so am I but this is a real grower so be patient and it'll give lots back for your attention. His odd phrasing and singing accent can sometimes seem off-putting, but his lyrics can be a joy. Most of all, some of the songs make you smile.

Comments about WEA/ATLANTIC PAOLO NUTINI - Sunny Side Up:
Each song on the album is different, but it's all killers, no fillers. There are some really unique and clever songs (for the few people who haven't heard 'Pencil Full of Lead' yet, you're missing out on a real treat!) Perfect for listening to in the car, at home, or to have on in the background while working.
