Description
Elly Jackson is the face and the voice of La Roux (French for ‘the red haired one’). Born and bred in Brixton, South London, Elly grew up listening to her Dad’s record collection, including artists such as Nick Drake and Neil Young who influenced her to begin writing her own music. Playing a couple of her own songs at a friends party so impressed a sound engineer in attendance, he immediately started calling every producer he knew. One call was to upcoming producer Ben Langmaid who, on hearing the songs, immediately decided to drop all other projects and focus on Elly’s music and so, the creative partnership of La Roux was formed.
Backed by co-writer and producer Ben Langmaid’s magical synth heavy wonderbeats, the result harps back to classic electro-pop pioneers like Eurythmics and Depeche Mode without losing any relevance to the new school of club goers and young hearts La Roux are picking up as fans.
