Description
Lostprophets have had that familiar rock sound of bands like Simple Plan, but with a harder approach. For the Welsh band to be given the title ‘Best British Band’ by Kerrang! as well as for best single and album, there needs to be some evidence to back it up.
In comes their newest album Betrayed, a grittier hardcore punk with plenty of shred and what some might say is a tinge of screamo at play. What gets your attention from the start is the blend of other genres, like the intro track ‘If It Wasn’t For Hate’ sounding more like their British rock colleagues. From there, ‘Next Stop Atro City’ is fuming with contagious energy that makes you want to expel it through playing an air-drum kit.
The struggles getting past their label and producer issues caused the delay of this album, but they’ve got it out now, and we’re banging our heads a little harder in satisfaction.
