Description
Similar in tone, pace and style to Mann's previous masterpiece Heat, Collateral's story again centres around two strong, contrasting men squaring off to one another. Los Angeles is shot in steely blues and greys, a never ending expanse of metal and concrete - contrasting the intimate claustrophobia of Max's cab. Featuring excellent support from Jada Pinkett Smith and Mark Ruffalo, this slow burning thrillerperfectly builds the tension, before erupting in moments of predatory violence. This is, without doubt, one of the best American films of 2004.
