Description
Directed by Stephen Sommers, best known for directing The Mummy and Van Helsing, G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra promises to be an action-packed adventure that everybody can enjoy. Though written so newcomers to the franchise can easily understand the story, the film also has scenes for longtime fans of the extensive storyline, such as portraying the characters Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow in training, as well as the induction of Duke and Ripcord into the G.I. Joe team.
The film recounts the story of the rise of the threatening Cobra Organization. As if this weren't enough for the elite team to deal with, they must also take on Destro, the corrupt arms dealer. The G.I. Joe team takes advantage of high-tech military and spy equipment and travels across the world, facing familiar foes such as the Cobra Commander and the Baroness Anastasia DeCobray in their attempt to save the world from spiraling into chaos.

Fun action flick, that provide a great evening's entertainment, without straining the brain. If your one proviso for a movie, is that it should "blow stuff up", then this is the flick for you. there is enough of a plot to link all the action sequences together. Lots of lots of stuff gets blown up. And it's all good fun. It doesn't hurt either, that most of the characters happen to be extremely good looking ...

Definately a must see for any movie buff and lover of Channing Tatum. True the story line isn't that great but the effects more than make up for it. Hot guys (and girl), stuff being blown up and those amazing suits. Must be watched on a big screen with surround sound and can be watched endless amounts of times

I had heard some really bad reviews of this movie so wasn't expecting much. Found it quite entertaining with a good storyline & characters. Not sure what it has to do with the G.I. Joe toys though.

I have to admit I brought this film mainly for Channing Tatum but I was shocked that I loved it so much. Brilliant cinematography and you really feel drawn into the movie. For a girl who's not really into action films this is one I could watch over and over so for anyone who likes action it'll be a real treat. Also for Tatum fans :)

The movie has to be seen in af home movie center, with proper surround etc. It is overall great intertainment but not a movie I would watch over and over again. The plot is too unoriginal. Evil man trying to ovetake the world, good guys with a lot of cool merchandise fight to stop him and ofcourse succeds. And some of the special effects/stunts are too much. As a viewer you would like to be wowed but there are scenes where it is too exaggerated. And in true action-movie-build-around-a-comic-style it is made clear that we can expect a sequel.

Watched at home on our Home Cinema system with surround sound and for this movie you will get the best from it with a big screen and full 5.1 to maximise your enjoyment.
Some great characters but you do not need to know anything about the franchise to enjoy this - we didn't!
You will also be surprised to see some well known actors in some strange roles - see Dr Who (Ecclestone) struggling with an accent he is just not comfortable with - however, it does not distract (I just found it funny at times!).
All in all you get what you expect. Brain food....no; a good old fashioned action romp....YES!!!!

This movie made our television look out of date as it was packed full of action and excitement! The product was a TOTAL 'Thrill Ride' of action and it drew you in as if you were part of the adventure. This movie deserves a 5-Star Rating as it was the absolute BOMB! Totally recommend to ALL action packed adventurers.
