Description

Carrying straight on from where Tarantino left his audiences at the end of Volume One, we pick up the bloody trail of The Bride (Uma Thurman) as she hunts down the remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad: Bud (Michael Madsen), Elle Driver (Darryl Hannah) and their elusive leader, Bill (David Carradine). The second half of the story probes deeper into The Bride's past, exploring what really happened at the wedding massacre that left her in a coma for four years. We follow the bride through her training in China with Pei Mei (Gordon Liu), filmed in loving homage by Tarantino in the style of The Shaw Brothers' Hong Kong action films of the 60s and 70s. The present day segments echo the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone - in particular The Good, The Bad And The Ugly which QT has frequently lauded as being his favourite film of all time.

The style, confidence and sheer audacity of Volume One all return here, coupled with detailed character development and a deeper emotional appreciation of the story to produce one of the most ambitious film projects of last year. Not to mention a career-defining performance from Uma Thurman, whose iconic image will adorn T-Shirts for generations to come.

In short, Kill Bill: Volume Two was well worth the wait.
