Description

Set in the Caribbean Sea in the 17th century, this is the story of a gentleman rogue of a pirate, Jack Sparrow (Depp), who teams up with blacksmith Will Turner (Bloom) when Will's childhood friend, Elizabeth (Knightley) is kidnapped by the evil Captain Barbossa (Rush), who leads a band of pirates who are cursed to turn into skeletons by the light of the moon, who have stolen Sparrow's ship, the Black Pearl.

Elizabeth, whose father (Pryce) is the governor of a Caribbean island, was kidnapped because she has a medallion which can potentially cure Barbossa's crew of their curse. Taking over the HMS Interloper, the fastest ship in the British fleet, Jack and Will race after Elizabeth, Barbossa and the Black Pearl, even as they themselves are pursued by Elizabeth's fiance, Commodore Norrington (Davenport) aboard his ship, the HMS Dauntless.
