Description

Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn) has put together a special team to portray his version of World War II. Nazis have occupied France, and a bunch of mostly Jewish guerrilla U.S. soldiers, "The Basterds", want to retaliate by teaching as many Nazis as they can a deadly lesson, one by one. With orders to collect 100 Nazi scalps per soldier, the Basterds' mission intertwines with the second storyline: A young French Jewish girl's plot for revenge on the German forces who slaughtered her family, led on by the "Jew Hunter". With the cinema she owns occupied by the Germans, she organises a special viewing that will really get the audience.

This is Tarantino's fantasy Spaghetti Western film that changes the way World War II events can be handled in cinema. If you know his style, you'll see action and comedy come through vividly, especially through Brad Pitt (Fight Club, Ocean's Eleven, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)'s performance as Basterds leader Lieutenant Aldo Raine. The supporting Complete with subtitles to give more authenticity to the dialogue, Tarantino has made a film that has beaten Hitler through the art of cinema. Emily Corine ©

Plot Synopsis

Quentin Tarantino's long-gestating, and much anticipated, World War II film is sure to delight fans of his artful touch with dialogue and visuals. Inspired by Enzo G. Castellari's Italian war epic, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, Tarantino's film is a remake in name only and concerns the resistance against Nazi forces in occupied France. Brad Pitt leads a strong ensemble that includes Diane Kruger (TROY), Michael Fassbender (HUNGER) and filmmaker Eli Roth (director of HOSTEL).

    Comments about UNIVERSAL Inglourious Basterds:

Is it 100% Tarantino? NO. Is it a good war drama? YES. It almost feels as if Tarantino matured. Although a totally fictitious story, many scenes are excellently thought out, well acted and quite serious in its subject matter. Directing and music is beautifully executed. The film is long and might demand patience, but I felt very satisfied in the end.
