Description
The story will keep you just as enthralled as any other. Expect deep, compelling storyline, full voice acting and a battle system that of course is completely different from previous titles. Battles will now come with the ability to stack commands on a list, allowing combos to unfold when the character is ready. Their limit break attack in XIII is called “break state”, allowing you to inflict massive amounts of damage when an enemy cannot retaliate.
As expected, the graphics are absolutely amazing. Since the tenth game, the elaborate Full Motion Videos were replaced with in-game cut-scenes, and the next-gen consoles really get to shine in Final Fantasy XIII. Weapons bought can be seen in the game, and the special effects during gameplay raise the bar tenfold. The game’s score is composed by Final Fantasy X’s Masashi Hamauzu.

Comments about Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3):
For those familiar with the Final Fantasy series this game will be a welcome addition to the long-running saga. As per usual the graphics keep getting better, but this time around the FMV sequences are tightly integrated into gameplay with full voice-acting. The battle system has evolved, allowing you to micro-manage your actions, or make general commands. Each character's progress is individually chartered and directed by you, and all of the playable character's are at some point the leader of your battle party, allowing you to experience every character in depth.
For anyone unfamiliar with FFXIII or it's predecessors, this is a great game to get to experience RPG gaming for the first time with its super-smooth graphics and engaging story line and hours upon hours of playability. FFXIII also has elements of many other genres including action and adventure games with intense battles and many quests and side-games to keep you entertained.

Comments about Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3):
This game is BEAUTIFUL. Square Enix maintains its repuation for emotional story telling and graphics. Everything else disapoints though. The levels are entirely liner with no room for exploration, the battles are largely self-driven by single button press (with the odd formation change) and the enemies are repetitive. Worse still fights can take upto 1 minutes with little in the way of XP and hardly anything in the way of loot drops. Also, having to read a copius journal to understand the story background, rather then having the story told in a comprehensive manner within the cut scences, is a dissappointment. Still, the characters are engaging, and you are compelled to pursue the next cut-scene event. So, its playable, but disappointing and to be honest a little boring. For the fans only.

Comments about Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3):
Fantastic game. If you enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy X, you will love this. It combines elements of various previous Final Fantasy games and creates a very unique style of gameplay. XIII takes a lot from XII in terms of the map, environment and mark hunting system and the level up system is similar to there Sphere Grid as seen in Final Fantasy X but XIII puts it own spin on all of it to bring something entirely new to the table.
The story is extremely hard to grasp at first, I hadn't heard anything like it before but once you really get into it, it's impossible to stop.
Since the story is so engaging and integral to the game, you aren't given as much player freedom as you'd be used to in previous games. You don't really get full control/roaming abilities until about 30-40hrs in but that's not to say the first half of the game is boring.
I'd definitely recommend this to any RPG fan, it's something different, the graphics are stunning, you can get a lot out of it and it's definitely one to play again.

Comments about Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3):
FFXIII blew me away! This games is gorgeous and actually feels like you are controlling a movie. The battle system is easy to learn as well as the upgrades and specials. The only slight issue I would have is the fact the freedom has gone unlike older FF games you could walk for miles and explore so much, this feels very linear. The Story line is so engaging it makes you want to play to see whats happening next every time you pick it up. I just wished it was a never ending story. A 5 star game without a doubt

Comments about Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3):
Final Fantasy XIII is a great and immersing narrative set in a beutifully detailed world. If one likes the japanese style of RPGs, Final Fantasy XIII won't disappoint. However, it does not feel as free playing this game as previous titles in the series. The game more or less feels like it's on rails and this linearity becomes frustrating after a while. The story is so epic however, that you kinda forgive SquareEnix in the end anyway.

Final Fantasy XIII boasts a fantastic storyline, great battle system and long play-length. Exploration is somewhat limited and the omission of towns was a bit of a disappointment, however overall, this is still a fantastic game.

Comments about Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3):
I have just finished 23 hours of the game and you just can't turn it off!
The game is visually amazing.
The combat system = fantastic!
The story = 1st class!!
With over 70 hours of game to play this is definitely worth the money.
Some critics have bagged it as being too linear for an RPG. Screw them I say - this game and Heavy Rain are the best from the PS3 so far. 5 Stars.
